You might be wondering if this image is real. Well, it is. National Geographic photographer Robert B. Haas took this aerial shot of flamingos flocking together in the shape of a large bird (flamingo?).

This picture to me, aside from being amazing and breathtaking, represents all the mysteries of our world that we are still, so far from understanding. Our human race has believed for a long time that we own this planet and that we are all powerful and smarter than every species in the world, but the truth is, we don't really know the intelligence that lives in every living creature, and each and every one of them deserves our respect.

I recently watched the documentary: I AM , that I greatly recommend anybody to watch. In this documentary there is an interesting part about animals, showing that consensus decision-making is the norm amongst many species, from insects and birds to deer and primates, and contrary to popular belief cooperation and not competition, may be nature’s most fundamental operating principle.

Everything in nature has its place in the larger scheme of things and unless we can live in harmony with our surroundings, there is no viable future for our race. I believe a great majority of people understand this already, because there is so much talk about global warming, endangered species and so on, but I am not sure we truly understand the meaning of living in harmony.

To me, it is not only about managing waste, recycling, buying organic produce, etc. We definitely need to take action, as I shared in a previous posting: Will you do your part? , but I believe that it is just as important to be grateful for the wonders of our world, to be deeply appreciative of what we have and to be aware of it all the time.

An attitude of gratitude and appreciation is important as we should focus on the things we still have and the wonderful nature that surrounds us, the more we focus on it, the more we are sending our energy towards its preservation, as opposed to its decline.

This shift of intention and focus is necessary. The Law of Attraction states that: we attract that which we focus our attention on, no matter if it is something we want or fear, we still attract it if we place our attention on it. Therefore, placing our attention on the existing marvels of our universe can only help AND it will bring your mood up as well!

How often do we stop and marvel at the beauty of our world? It is true that many of us live in crowded cities, work in small cubicles with no windows, take little vacations, etc. but let's not forget what is out there, what is also part of our planet, our home.

I personally find it uplifting to watch movies like: Winged Migration , March of the Penguins, Galapagos or The BBC Series: Planet Earth it reminds me of what we still have and it gives me hope, peace, and a sense of unity with all that surrounds us!

So take a little time to marvel and enjoy this video for a nice break!
